Quick Setup Checklist ✅

For camera bodies (first 10 minutes)

  • Charge the battery fully.
  • Insert your SD card and format it in-camera (Menu → Format).
  • Reset settings (Menu → Reset/Initialize) to clear old custom configs.
  • Set date/time (helps with file organization).
  • Test the basics: take 5 photos (bright light + indoor light) and confirm autofocus locks quickly.
  • Review images at 100% zoom for anything unusual.
Optional but recommended
  • Update firmware from the manufacturer’s official site.
  • Enable auto sensor cleaning (if supported).

For lenses

  • Check the glass (front + rear) under a phone flashlight.
  • Mount the lens and test: autofocus (near → far), aperture changes (if applicable), zoom/focus ring smoothness, stabilization (if applicable).
Quick “Is this normal?”
  • A gentle rattle in some lenses can be normal (stabilization components).
  • Tiny internal dust is common and usually doesn’t affect images.
  • Light cosmetic wear is normal on used gear — function matters most.

Care & Storage Tips 🧼

Cleaning (simple + safe)

What to use
  • Microfiber cloth
  • Manual air blower
  • Lens cleaning solution (a few drops max)
What NOT to use
  • Paper towels
  • Household cleaners
  • Compressed air cans directly on sensitive parts

Best practice: blow dust first → then wipe gently in circles. Keep caps on when not in use.

Storage (prevents fungus + damage)

  • Store in a cool, dry place.
  • Avoid long-term storage in damp areas.
  • Use silica gel packs in your bag/case (swap occasionally).
  • Don’t leave batteries fully drained for long periods.

Battery health

  • If storing for a while, keep batteries around 40–70%.
  • Avoid extreme heat (e.g., cars in summer).

FAQ

My lens makes a sound when moved — is it broken?
Often no. Some lenses have stabilization groups that can make a soft movement sound. If autofocus and stabilization work normally, it’s usually fine — but message us if you’re unsure.
I see tiny dust inside the lens.
Small internal dust is common and usually won’t affect images. If you see haze/fungus-like patterns or heavy marks, reach out.
How do I test everything quickly?
Take 10 photos: 3 outdoors bright, 3 indoors, 2 at minimum focus distance, 2 at far distance. Then zoom to 100% and check sharpness + anything unusual.
